What are the precautions in the fiber optical patch cord and management process?

With the in-depth development of the information and data era, optical communication has also extended to many areas of life. With the maturity of 4G and the arrival of the 5G era, the data center has applied a large number of 40G/100G networks, and the installation and management of fiber jumpers has become more and more important. The quality of the fiber jumper management directly affects the overall data transmission. Managing the fiber jumper not only reduces the operating cost of the entire fiber network, but also makes it beautiful and convenient, and can increase the reliability and flexibility of network operation and maintenance.

In the process of installing and arranging fiber patch cords, we should pay attention to the following aspects:

 

1. Do not bend the fiber jumper excessively, paying attention to its bend radius. When used, the minimum bending radius of the fiber is 30mm, and the MPO fiber jumper can withstand a bending radius of not less than 10 times its diameter.

2. Pay attention to protect the ferrule during installation and use to prevent collision and pollution. Wear a dust cap in time after disassembly. If the jumper connector or the ferrule end face is contaminated, use a cotton wool dipped in alcohol, otherwise the insertion loss will be affected.

3. During the installation process, the optical transceivers at both ends of the fiber jumper must have the same transceiver wavelength to ensure the accuracy of data transmission.

4. The laser signal is harmful to the eyes. Do not look directly at the ferrule end face when transmitting the signal.

5. Do not pull or squeeze the fiber jumper. Excessive force can affect the jumper and connector performance at both ends when installing fiber patch cords.

6. When bundling and arranging the fiber jumper, the tightness should be moderate and the over-tightening should be prevented.

7. Labeling is used as an indication. Correct labeling brings great convenience to post-maintenance management, and can quickly and accurately find the start and end points of each jumper.

 

8. In case of damage caused by man-made and other irresistible factors, the jumper should be replaced in time.
9. When an abnormality occurs in the optical network or system, the fault elimination method can be used to test one by one. The test can be used with a clear light pen, or further use precision instruments to test the insertion loss and return loss. If three jumper insertion loss tests are continuously tested More than 30% of the normal range, consider whether the end face of the ceramic core is contaminated or damaged.


8. In case of damage caused by man-made and other irresistible factors, the jumper should be replaced in time.
